Principal's Update 04-25-2014

Monday was our last PTO Assembly of the year. The assembly was called "Healthy Lifestyle Choices" by Solution Action Sports. The group performed a BMX Bike Stunt Show and the presenters talked with students about being active and eating right. They also talked with students about bicycle safety and the importance of wearing a helmet and following traffic guidelines. Thank you to the PTO for planning and sponsoring the assemblies for our students this year.

Specific conference times for Parent/Teacher Conferences on May 1st and 2nd were sent home with students this week. If the conference time that was sent home does not work for some reason, please be sure to contact your child's classroom teacher as soon as possible. Students have a 1/2 day of school on Thursday and will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. on that day. We will then hold conferences on Thursday evening from 3-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. There are no classes for students on Friday.

We had a great turn out on Thursday for our Academic Open House, Book Fair, and Ice Cream Social! Thank you to all of our families who attended the event. It was great to see so many parents interested in what our students have been learning, and it was equally exciting to see our students excited about getting new books at the Book Fair! A special thanks goes out to Dina Grace Bielawski and Miss Arends for coordinating the Book Fair and also to Robin Lapacek and Mike Grecco for organizing the Ice Cream Social. Neither of those components of the evening would not been possible without them!!!

Thank you to all parents who completed the 5Essentials Survey over the course of the last few weeks. We did reach our goal of 30% participation by Friday, so our staff will receive the parent feedback that was provided!!! We look forward to reviewing the information once we receive it in order to help improve our school.

The Willow Creek Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 9th. Mrs. Bailey is still looking for volunteers. Please contact her if you are interested in helping lead a game on that day. Notices for our picnic lunch on Field Day went home with students on Thursday as well. Please indicate whether your student will bring a sack lunch from home or if you would like a sack lunch to be ordered for your child through the school for field day. Forms should be returned with the choice indicated by this Tuesday.
