Principal's Update 05-02-2014

We started off our week with the Second Year Band performing for our entire school on Tuesday morning! Willow Creek has a large number of 6th Graders in the Band and it was exciting to have them play for the students and staff on Tuesday. The students played a variety of songs including several marches and a song from the ever popular movie Jurassic Park! Way to go Band! Thank you to Mr. Payne for all of his hard work with our students throughout the year. On Thursday, our 5th Graders presented at their Poetry Recital! Students memorized poems of their choice and recited them for the rest of the class and the parents who attended. Students did a great job using expression to portray the meaning of their poems!!



Thank you to all of our parents who attended conferences on Thursday and Friday! It was great to see so many parents interested in their children's education and talking with their children's teachers about their progress this year.

The artwork of students from Willow Creek School in grades 1st-6th is currently being displayed at the Woodridge Public Library! A "Thank You" goes out to Mrs. LaCombe for hanging the students pieces and for all of her hardwork with our students this year!

Our Field Day will take place this Friday! Please be sure that your child wears gym shoes in order to participate in the events. It will also be good for your child to dress for the weather and come with a water bottle and possibly sunscreen if the weather is nice. In the event of rain, we will hold our Field Day on May 15th, however, as long as it doesn't rain, we will hold the Field Day on Friday.

As you know, we were in a heightened state of security last week. During that time, staff and students remained in the building and did not exit the building for recess, PE, or other activities. We are anticipating that we will return to our normal procedures on Monday and that after school activities will resume on Monday as well. I will notify parents if there are any changes to our normal prodedures next week.
