The Board of Education meeting on Monday, September 29th was opened by kindergarten students throughout the district leading the Pledge of Allegiance! A.M. kindergarten, Jennifer, and P.M. kindergartener, Isabella, were in attendance for Willow Creek this year! Thank you to both girls for doing a great job representing our school!!! On Tuesday, September 30th we held our Student Council Officer Elections for this school year! We had many students who ran for office this year and we are extremely proud of each student who ran for office and gave a speech in front of their peers. All students who ran for office are going to be a part of this year's Student Council Leadership Team. The following students were elected as our officers this year: Kailey Ferguson, Chloe Dawson, Gabe Curtis, and Paige Miller! Congratulations to our new President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary!!
This past Tuesday, our PTO hosted a room parent and new volunteer meeting. Parents who will be leading our classroom parties this year were in attendance, as well as, parents who are planning to volunteer in the classrooms. If you are still interested in participating in either of these activities, you may attend the next meeting for room parents or new volunteers on Tuesday, November 4th at 1 p.m.
Tuesday also marked my first "Mingle with Matthews" for Willow Creek parents! Thank you so much to those who attended this event!! It was a pleasure to talk about our new writing program with parents. I enjoyed spending time talking about our curriculum and instruction and was impressed with the great questions that were asked about the new program! I am currently working on converting my presentation into something that I can post for all parents to access online.
On Friday, we completed our fire drill with the local Woodridge/Lisle Fire Department. Our students and staff did an excellent job and we were able to quickly identify any staff member or student that the fire department asked to step to the side during the drill. We have one more fire drill to complete this year, and we will be completing our law enforcement drill with the Woodridge Police Department in the upcoming weeks as well.
We currently have our Box Top Collection Contest going on for the month of October!!! Tickets for the Halloween Dance are also on sale! Information for both of these activities have been posted to the Willow Creek Peachjar!
