Principal's Update 04-12-2013

We had a lot of action around the school this week!! Thank you to all of our parents who completed the 5Essentials Survey. We ended the week by meeting our goal with 32% of our parent population completing the survey. I am extremely pleased that we met the goal, as parent input is important to us and by meeting our goal, we will received the parent input and use it in planning for improvement of our school next year.

Our "Girls on the Run" club started this week! The girls who are participating had a blast! In this club, our girls are getting to know other girls they may not otherwise have an opportunity to know, they are getting active, and they are talking about being confident girls with strong self-esteem.



The 3rd and 4th Grade Musical this week was a big hit!! Our students had fun singing, dancing, and playing instruments to songs about Saturday! A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Hector who did an excellent job working with our students and coordinating the entire show!



Kids Club worked on putting the finishing touches on preparations for our Cultural Connections Potluck Dinner that is coming up this Thursday, April 18th. Families will be sharing their favorite recipes with one another and enjoying meals from cultures around the world. Anyone who is still interested in attending should turn in their sign up sheet to Mrs. Durkin by Monday along with the ingredients that will be included in the recipe for the dish they are bringing. The event is being held from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Willow Creek.



Fourth graders participated in Pioneer Days on Friday. They spent the day experiencing life as if they lived in pioneer times. They participated in games, chores, and dances that Pioneers would have participated in as children.



The fifth and sixth grade students in Honors Chorus stayed after school this week in order to practice for their performance at SingFest on Saturday. The students worked hard and did an excellent job learning all of their songs and dance moves to go with the songs. They were definitely ready to go for a great show!



Order forms for supply kits for next year went home with students last Monday and they are due back to school this coming Monday, April 15th. Please be sure to complete the designated form for the grade that your child will be going into next year and return payment by Monday if you are interested in ordering a kit. Kits will be delivered to Willow Creek this summer and can be picked up in August before school starts during our back to school events prior to the start of school.
