The students of Willow Creek enjoyed the "Wearing of the Green" on Friday and many of our students participated in some festive activities in their classrooms including leprechaun visits, science experiments to learn how to mix colors to make green, making of shamrock shakes, and Irish dancing!
Thank you to those who took the 5Essentials Survey this past week. We are now up to 12%, but need to be at 30% by the end of March. As a result, it will be really beneficial if additional families took approximately 10 minutes to complete the survey so we can use the feedback provided to continue to improve our school next year. Once again, I have included a quick link, as well as, a link to the directions for anyone who wants to read them before taking the survey.
The Little Caesar's Pizza Fundraiser resulted an excellent profit that will certainly help reduce the cost of the Outdoor Education Field Trip for our 5th graders next year! Thank you to everyone who support this endeavor.
As a result of the upcoming changes to the Gifted Program for the 2013-2014 school year, all students in grades 2-7 will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) this April. CogAT Form 7 reflects the most up-to-date research on how best to measure cognitive abilities and learning styles. This test will provide information about a student’s aptitude and provides information regarding each learner’s general characteristics, and includes three separate sections: verbal, non-verbal and quantitative. Each section is administered in the computer lab and is about 30 minutes in length. Starting next spring, only students in grades 2 and 6 will take the CogAT. The CogAT test is just one of the topics to be discussed at the Gifted Program Identification Meeting on Monday, April 1st at 7:00pm at Jefferson Junior High. More information about the Gifted Program can be found on the district website under >District >Departments >Teaching and Learning >Instructional Support Programs.
