Principal's Update 08-31-12

Our first full week at Willow Creek flew by and we have already started to get back into the routine of the year. Our teachers spent the last week and a half getting to know their students and building relationships that will enable them to successfully work with each child throughout the year. They are also working to build a positive classroom community in which students have strong and caring relationships with not only the teacher but with one another as well. 

 

Our first and fourth grade students were buddied up on the first day of school in order for our fourth graders to assist our first graders with navigating the lunch room, since they are new to eating lunch at school each day. They finished up the week by enjoying a frozen treat together courtesy of our WC PTO!
 
The WC PTO provides many exciting opportunities for our students throughout the year and one of the first items they are taking care of for our school is the ordering of Willow Creek Spirit Wear. Order forms for school spirit wear went home this week and orders can also be placed online by clicking on the web address below. The first meeting for our PTO is being held on Tuesday, September 4th at 7 p.m. in the Willow Creek LRC. I strongly encourage all parents to join us and learn how they can become involved at Willow Creek and work with other parents to continue to provide great activities and opportunities for our students.

Please check your child's backpack this week for my welcome back letter that will be distributed to all families. The letter will contain information regarding our Curriculum Night and other ways parents can receive communication from the school. I will also post my letter on the school website once it has been disseminated.
