Principal's Update 04-17-2015

This school year has been breezing by and as the end of the year approaches, we have many events coming up! It has been a while since I have posted to my blog, but as the year ends, I plan to return to making regular posts to keep parents in the loop as to all that is going on at WC!!

This coming Thursday is our annual Academic Open House, Book Fair, and Ice Cream Social! The Book Fair will begin in the gym at 6 p.m. and the Academic Open House will begin at 6:30. During this event, students and their parents are encouraged to visit the students' classrooms in order to see the work students have been doing. The artwork of students will also be on display throughout the school and the staff will be in attendance as well! Ice cream will be served in the gym and families are encouraged to join us for the evening, even if it is for a short period!!

Volunteers are still needed in order to make this Book Fair and Ice Cream Social successful.  If you are interested in taking a 30 min time slot please contact Kristin Tenuta at ktenuta@thesummitcenter.net. If you are unable to attend the event on Thursday evening, but would still like to purchase books, please visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair.  Our online Fair is available until 5/8/15.

Registration for returning students opened online last week! Parents can now pay fees as soon as they register and there is a 10% discount for those who register before June 10th. Please go to the district website and go to Skyward Family Access to register. The earlier that our students are registered, the sooner we can begin planning for next school year and potentially hire staff if necessary!

This year, Field Day will be held on Friday, May 15th with our rain date on Friday, May 22nd. Mrs. Bailey is looking for volunteers to help facilitate games on Field Day. Interested parents should return the volunteer form that went home with students.
