Principal's Update 11-07-2014

We had another great week of learning and growing at Willow Creek!

This week, several sixth grade students along with our Student Council brought back our School Store! Students had the opportunity to purchase school supplies at the school store during their lunch hour. Supplies are being sold for .25 cents to 2 dollars. The store will be open on Thursdays during the lunch hour periodically throughout the school year!


On Friday, the Woodridge District #68 Board of Education conducted tours around the district. They visited Willow Creek in the morning and were led around our school by our Student Council President and Vice President! In addition, two more students helped share information about our school. One fifth grader in the Lego Engineering Club demonstrated to the board how the students in the club have been building and programming robots using computer software. A fourth grade student informed the board about our students' Accelerator Reader Goals and our Accelerator Reader Raffle!













Our Accelerator Reader Raffle was held on Friday! Students who earned raffle tickets for reaching their reading goals in 1st Quarter placed their raffle tickets in bags that corresponded with the prizes that they wanted to win. A drawing was conducted after all students distributed their raffle tickets, and the winners were announced on Friday afternoon with students whose names were drawn immediately receiving their prizes! After second quarter, all students who reached 200% of their AR goal for first or second quarter will attend a BBQ at lunch with our staff.

Thank you to all families who participated in the Market Day Catalog Sale Fundraiser. Items will be available to be picked up on December 2nd between 3-4 p.m. A special "Thank You" goes out to Annie Bleau for coordinating the fundraiser!! Also, thank you to everyone who paritcipated in the October Box Top Contest Collection! We earned over $700 for our school as a result of this collection!

Preference sheets for parent conference times were sent home last week and should have been returned to school by Friday. Our staff will be meeting on Monday to determine exact conference times and those times will be sent home later in the week to parents. Please be sure to confirm your conference time with your child's teacher. If you are unable to attend the conference at your designated time, please be sure to reschedule a new time/day or you can set up a phone conference.

Be sure to check out the Peachjar for some new flyers that have been posted including details for the Elementary Band Concert that is coming up this week, as well as, flyers with oppotunities for community support this holiday season with both food and clothing.
