The "ProKids Show" visited Willow Creek today in order to provide our first PTO sponsored assembly for the students. The show specifically targeted character education and the star of the show Tim Hannig talked with students about qualities that are key in maintaining good character. He specifically addressed honesty and how often times being honest and doing what is right can be difficult and takes courage. Through songs, magic, humor, and animated stories he also addressed the way students treat each other with examples about teasing and bullying. Another example situation he addressed explained to students why it is critical to follow the rules parents set for them at home, as well as, the rules that we have developed at school. His example demonstrated to students that there are specific reasons why adults set such rules and that these rules are in place to protect children, even when it may be hard for them to recognize why. As you can see in the slideshow below, our students were extremely engaged throughout the show and spent much time laughing as they carefully listened and volunteered to participate.
Thank you to our PTO for such an entertaining and educational experience that seamlessly fit with the skills we have been working to develop through our implementation of PBIS this year!
