Back to School 2012

We had a great start to our new year at Willow Creek! Our first day back together was action packed. We started the day outside around our reading garden saying the Pledge of Allegiance as a school and we finished our day with what we call a Skill Blitz.

Last year, the students and staff determined that the expectations for our building would consist of three rules: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. As a result, during the Skill Blitz, our students rotated through six stations throughout the school in order to determine what Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Safe should look like in each of those areas. Students helped staff act out various scenarios and ultimately the students demonstrated how they believe the children of Willow Creek should conduct themselves throughout the day. The students also visited two more stations on Friday to finish out the Skill Blitz at the end of the week.

These expectations have been placed into what we call a Positive Behavior Matrix and will be displayed throughout each area of the school and shared with parents.
